Tomorrow we’re going to be at Borough Market launching our latest project: an initiative called NewPaper.
We’ve screen-printed thousands of sheets of Metro newspaper with colourful graphic designs, to give them an exciting second life as wrapping paper for Borough Market stallholders at this year’s Christmas market.
It’s a simple concept, based on the Japanese practice of tsutsumi, wrapping gifts with care and imagination, and Dentsu Inc’s initiative back in 2009 for Japanese street vendors. We wanted to make our version with some of Camille‘s designs here in London.
Borough Market stallholders will be wrapping goods like olive oil, chutneys, sweets, biscuits and spices in the Jubilee and Green Markets on Saturday 18th December. The hope is that if it’s a success, we can roll the scheme out nationwide from early 2010.
